“Popular Psychology and Life-Coaching Among Ultra-Orthodox Women in Israel”
Thursday, November 14, 2019, 4 – 6 p.m.

Michal Pagis, Ph.D., from Bar-Ilan University, will host a talk on “Popular Psychology and Life-Coaching Among Ultra-Orthodox Women in Israel.”
Recent years have witnessed an unexpected flourishing of popular psychology-based services offered in Israeli ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) communities. The talk examines the role these services play in the reproduction and adaptation of Haredi values and culture in the context of ultra-Orthodox women’s lives. Ayala Fader, professor of anthropology at Fordham, will respond.
