Free and open to the public. \nA film screening of the award-winning documentary Life\, Animated\, chronicling one family’s adventures in communicating with their language-impaired autistic son. \nThe screening will be followed by by a panel discussion among young adults on the autism spectrum and Fordham faculty researching autism and neurodiversity while parenting young adults on the autism spectrum. \nPanelists: \nAllison Bass\, a senior in the OASIS program at Pace University\, NYC. Allison excels in her English Literature and Language major as well as in her Asian Studies minor. \nJames T. Fisher\, Professor of Theology and History at Fordham\, parents his 19-year-old son Charlie\, who is on the autism spectrum. Charlie is an avid bike and horseback rider. \nMicki McGee\, Associate Professor Sociology and Director of Fordham’s American Studies Program\, parents a 19-year-old daughter who is in her first year of college\, made possible by the autism support services at her campus. \nZachary O’Neal\, graduated last year from Pace University and is an alumnus of the OASIS program. Zachary received a Bachelor of Arts in History and is contemplating graduate school. He is currently coaching and mentoring students in the OASIS program.
