DESCRIPTION:The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is coming to Fordham University to host a grant application-writing workshop. \nFordham faculty and staff are invited to a grants workshop led by two program officers from the NEH. The workshop will include an overview of NEH programs\, tips and strategies on writing applications\, a mock panel\, and a Q&A period. \nThe three-hour workshop will be followed by lunch.

SUMMARY:What Defines a Good Proposal?: A Workshop on Capturing Reviewers’ Attention and Addressing Their Expectations
DESCRIPTION:The Office of Sponsored Programs’ first 2018–2019 grant workshop will be led by James Trostle\, Ph.D.\, M.P.H.\, professor of anthropology at Trinity College in Hartford\, Connecticut\, and professor of public health at the University of Chile\, Santiago. \nThis workshop will be devoted to discussing what proposal reviewers expect\, with special attention paid to what makes a convincing interdisciplinary project. We will discuss the big picture—how to write a convincing proposal—and the smaller picture—the role of attention-grabbing titles and abstracts. \nTrostle has worked to improve proposal-writing through workshops and collaborative consultations in more than 15 countries. He has received research funding from numerous organizations—including the NSF\, the NIH\, the Kellogg Foundation\, the Ford Foundation\, the World Health Organization\, and USAID—and has received fellowships from the Fulbright Program and the School for Advanced Research in Santa Fe. \nFood will be provided.
