SUMMARY:Re-Appreciating the Anti-Poverty Objective of Disability Benefit Program
DESCRIPTION:Zachary Morris\, Ph.D.\, is an assistant professor of social welfare at Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare. He has published and presented widely on the subject of comparative disability policy. He was recently awarded the Bleddyn Davies Prize for best early career paper in Policy & Politics\, an international journal\, and the Disability Manuscript Award from the Council for Social Work Education. \nThe lecture will be at the Fordham University Lincoln Center campus in Leon Lowenstein Building Room 708\, with a video link in Cunniffe House Room 119 at Rose Hill. Space is limited. Social workers can receive one hour of CEH credit for this talk.

DESCRIPTION:Abstract: This book introduces the human development model to define disability and map its links with health and wellbeing. The model is applied using internationally comparable panel survey data for Ethiopia\, Malawi\, Tanzania and Uganda. \nSpeaker: Sophie Mitra is Professor of Economics at Fordham University. She is a Fellow of the Human Development and Capability Association and Senior Research Associate at the Center for International Policy Studies at Fordham. \nThis is part of Fordham University’s Department of Economics Seminar series and the Seminar onDisability Research across Disciplines\, a seminar series organized by the Faculty Working Group on Disability and funded by the Provost Office.
